Winston Area Community Partnership

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Non-Profit, Self-Managed Websites, Web WorkNo Comments

This is actually the second version of this website.  When I did the first, they didn’t have much budget and didn’t really know how much they would use their website.  They asked for a pretty static site and, to be honest, WordPress hadn’t really become a functional Content Management System yet.  After having a website for a few years they had a much better idea what they wanted and how they could use it.  I sat down with them, listened to their needs and we decided that WordPress was definitely the answer.  I was able to customize a template so it looked very much like their old site (a design they really liked) and gave them the flexibility they needed to be able to add pages, change text and even manage their own events list and calendar.

They’ve been using this site for about a year now and have had no issues with managing events, editing text or adding photos to slideshows in posts and on pages.  I consider this site a real win.

Winery Website Proof of Concept

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Web Work, WineriesNo Comments

With the boom in wine making and the explosion of wineries all over Oregon, I would love to be able to provide several different services to wineries.  I have created a website as a proof of concept with the hopes that it will generate some interest.

As you may or may not be able to see from the screenshot, the site has many features that should be helpful to any size winery.

  • Custom design with any color scheme you like as well as a templating system that will allow you to totally change the look of the site in a few minutes while keeping all your content, photos and everything in place.
  • The ability to change text, add photos, create pages…
  • An event list that you can also manage yourself.
  • A web store that’s as easy to manage as typing a few lines and adding a photo.
  • An email list manager (wine club) for keeping everyone up to date on new vintages, events, or whatever you like.
  • A blog to show off photos from your events, talk about why your wine is best…
  • Integration with social network (probably the biggest marketing opportunity there has ever been).
  • Automatic submission to the major search engines (Google, Bing, Ask…).  Search engines LOVE these sites because they are packed with rich, targeted content.  As search engine technology evolves, content is all that’s going to matter.

Some of the other services I can offer are:

  • Large format color printing.  Ever wonder what an 8 foot tall poster of one of your award winning bottles of wine would look like? Imagine having something like that next to your tables at wine tasting events.  No doubt that could make you stand apart from the competition.
  • Professional writing for press releases, wine articles, blog entries, ads…  I’m obviously not a professional writer, but I have one that I work very closely with.
  • Graphic design and page layout for catalogs, print ads, line cards, business cards…
  • Vinyl banners, in full color, for outdoor events.
  • Signs, large and small.  I have experience with as large as 5′x6′ full color signs on aluminum and as small as 10″x15″ signs that sit beside the road warning cars of reduced speed limits.  Size limits are pretty much non-existent though.  If you need something HUGE, I can figure it out for you.

So, that’s my pitch.  I offer great, personal service, reasonable prices and I’m really versatile.

Waterstone Crossing

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Builders Architects & Engineers, Web WorkNo Comments

Waterstone was a townhouse renovation by Bill Woods.  He needed a website to advertise the real estate aspects of the development so he could sell them as they became available.  I worked with a photographer and graphic designer to put her ideas into web form.  I always thought it was a very well designed site.

As you hover over the thumbnails around the outside of the Waterstone Crossing sign photo, the photo changes to a full size version of the thumbnail.  Pretty cool at the time.  No Flash. All Javascript.  Worked with every known browser and didn’t blow up with updates.

All of my work uses the best practices to balance design, usability, browser compatibility and search engine friendliness.  Is friendliness even a word when used with search engines?  I guess it is now. :)  Anyway, sometimes it’s a difficult juggling act, but I can usually pull it off.

AJD Engineering

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Builders Architects & Engineers, Web WorkNo Comments

This one was kind of a no brainer.  AJD is my brother, Allen.  When he needed a website for his engineering firm, who else would he call?  Even so, I didn’t want to just do something really simple for him.  I wanted to give him something trendy, cool and useful.  I think I did a pretty good job of it.

The drawing in the background is actually one of Allen’s.  I just took the Acad dwg file and did a little graphics work with it.  The slideshow uses Flash (I know, I know) but does it in a way that’s actually stable and doesn’t blow up every time Flash updates. (Can you tell I hate Flash?)

Also included is his resume and a link to contact him.  If you need something designed, he comes highly recommended.  Us Danskines are damn good at what we do.  :)
