Weathering Springs

Cassie Soule, the horse whisperer of Douglas County (not really, I just call her that) needed a website to do some passive marketing as well as list horses for sale and announce upcoming events at her ranch.  When she was selected to take part in the Mustang Challenge (kind of a big deal, if you’re in the horse world) she also needed a way to post regular updates to keep her sponsors in the loop.  I created a custom WordPress Blog that matched her site design and allowed her an easy way to make everyone feel like they were part of the action.

Luckiamute Valley Pheasants

LVP is actually a client of a local marketing company.  They had already created the website, but needed a custom reservations system.  That’s when they called me.  I was able to give them a calendar that shows available hunting pods for specific days, an email reservations request form and a database that kept it all straight.  The system has worked well for several years now and allows LVP the ability to spend less time on the phone and more time doing what they enjoy.

Property Management Sites

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Real Estate and Property Management, Web WorkNo Comments

One of my oldest clients happens to be a property manager in Roseburg.  Now, in a lot of ways, property management sites seem like theyshould be pretty simple.  Throw up a few pictures, a small database so they don’t have to re-type listings every time a tenant moves out, some PDFs for applications and stuff.  No sweat, right?  Well, not quite.  You see, property managers are VERY interested in being #1 in Google when someone searches for a house for rent in ‘insert-city-here’.  They also really like to have listings and photo slideshows that look the way they want them to look.  You can’t really do a cookie-cutter site for a property manager.  Most everything has to be custom.

That’s what I’m really good at.  Doing everyday, typical things in creative, custom ways.  While a lot ofthe code on the back end is already written, tested, tried and true, the way that code is implemented is different for nearly every one of my clients.  That’s what custom means to me.  There are only so many ways to write a program, but there are an infinite number of ways to display the information.

If you have a property management company, you’re a real estate broker, or you’re trying to market your very own widget online, give me a call (an email is actually better, but call sounds cooler  :) ) and let me show you what I can do for you.

Hire-a-Daughter.us

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Web WorkNo Comments

Hire a Daughter was a company that specialized in helping the elderly or home-bound.  They needed a site that was basically passive marketing, just to have someplace to point potential clients to so they could get some more information.  That’s what I gave them.

The design is fully customized to incorporate the look of the business cards and other marketing materials the company already had made.  The site, as it is, is very simple, but also very welcoming and almost makes you wish you had an elderly parent that needed the service once you take a look.  :)

Winston Area Community Partnership

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Non-Profit, Web WorkNo Comments

Work included a redesign for the local non-profit The Winston Area Community Partnership.  I did the original redesign a few years ago, but times change and they needed the ability to update their website more often and without having to budget for it.  What I did for them was create a custom WordPress blog with their design and some special plugins that allow them to manage an event list and calendar.  They also have the ability to place slideshows anywhere they like and create both static pages as well as post to their blog.  Pretty slick, really.  Even if I do say so myself.  :)

This is a site that I did for Brandon Ash, a locally raised NASCAR driver.  The site includes a custom blog, social networking links, race information and a place for distributors of his main sponsor’s product to donate money to the team.

Real Estate Websites (RMLS IDX)

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Real Estate and Property Management, Web WorkNo Comments

My bread and butter is in creating custom real estate websites for realtors and brokers in Oregon and southern Washington. I’m a registered IDX provider with the RMLS and can provide full search capabilities for your site viewers.

Perhaps my biggest asset to you, the broker, is my custom design work.  While my websites aren’t made to be updated every 5 minutes by you or your secretary (HUGE waste of time, by the way) they are designed to give you your own look while adhering to the often strict marketing guidelines of your corporate office.  I have worked with Century 21, Remax and Prudential, just to name a few, and was able to give the brokers and agents exactly what they wanted while keeping corporate happy as well.

I offer a lot of the bells and whistles as well, but I’ll cover those in more detail in other posts.

If you have a site that needs updating, or haven’t stepped up to a custom site and are still using a database driven P.O.S. that you’re paying $150, $200 or even more, per month, contact me and see what I can give you.  Wouldn’t it be nice to see an end to that monthly bill?

MoVelocity.org – A site for a movement!

by Matt Danskine — Categories: Non-Profit, Web WorkNo Comments

MoVelocity.org is a site that I have enjoyed being a part of quite a lot.  For those who don’t know, it’s a free site started by a local group whose only goal was to get people up and moving.  The site, in idea, is very simple.  Allow people to log in, post exercise or other activities they do (Yard Monkey is my favorite), convert those activities to miles and try to get enough people doing it to reach 1,000,000 miles.  On the back end, it’s not really all that simple.  There is a lot of calculating and database work taking place behind the scenes.

MoVelocity.org has been gaining miles very slowly lately.  Not sure why.  Perhaps people have forgotten about it.  We’re nearing 680,000 miles, but an article in the News Review some time about a man walking across the USA kind of got me thinking about it again.  I emailed the man and he said he would be happy to talk to MoVelocity about letting us track his movements across the USA.  I’m hoping that we’ll get a reciprocal link with his site and, as he progresses on his trip and talks to people all across the land, we get more members and finally hit that million mile mark.

You should check the site out.  There’s nothing to buy.  Only motivation to go.
